Do you take insurance?

Nourish Pediatrics is in network with Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. This means that all lactation and feeding evaluations and treatment can be billed through Wellmark (if that is your insurance carrier). The codes we bill are speech pathology feeding evaluation and treatment codes and are typically covered.

For those without Wellmark, we provide out-of-network options. These include private pay, HSA, and FSA funds. Additionally, we can provide a Superbill each month upon request, which is a receipt of services. You can submit this to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Please speak with your insurance company to learn about their specific options!

How do I pay for services?

Payment/any amount of co-pay is due day of service via credit card, debit card, check, or cash. This includes HSA/FSA cards. Payments can also be made in your patient portal.

How far will you travel?

In-person services are limited to the Cedar Rapids, IA + surrounding areas. Travel beyond that area is subject to an additional fee. Virtual services are accessible to anyone in Iowa. Parent coaching is available to families in Iowa and several other states. Reach out for state-specific details.

How do I get started with feeding therapy/lactation counseling?

After you reach out via our contact form/email, we will determine if an evaluation is warranted via a complementary discovery call. If we move forward with an evaluation, we send you an intake form/paperwork via your patient portal and schedule a 1.5 hour visit which takes place in your home. If needed, we then schedule ongoing treatment sessions - these can be virtual or in-person, based on your preference.

What does parent coaching look like?

Parent coaching is not therapy; the child does not need to be present. When you book a coaching call with Nourish Pediatrics, we will discuss your goals prior to the call, so that we can be prepared to answer all of your questions and provide you with the resources you desire.

How long  do sessions last?

Evaluations (feeding/lactation): 1.5 hours

Treatment sessions (feeding/lactation): 30-45 minutes

Coaching calls: 45 minutes

What types of trainings/courses have you taken?

Part of my education as a Speech-Language Pathologist included pediatric feeding content. I furthered my knowledge of feeding during my lactation certification training. Since then, I've taken a variety of courses, including: Supporting Oral Feeding in Fragile Infants (SOFFI), Tethered Oral Tissues with Chrysalis Orofacial, SOS Approach to Feeding, ARFID Masterclass: The Anxious Eater (Melanie Potock), Feeding Toolkit (Melanie Potock), Appetite: How to Foster Hunger and Wean Kids from Tube Feedings (Melanie Potock), and several other courses related to bottle/breast feeding and oral motor skills.
