Feeding Therapy

Collaborative Evaluation + Treatment

At Nourish Pediatrics, our ultimate goal is that every family and child views mealtime as a joyful experience. We want to nourish a positive, engaging, and healthy feeding experience for all involved. From bottle feeding, tube feeding, picky eating, and everything in between, we provide family-centered, evidence-based care to make mealtime something that families enjoy.

Here's the thing about feeding our kids- it can be so tied up in our worth as parents. If our kids are picky or having any other type of issue with eating, we can often view it as a failure of our parenting. Nourish Pediatrics wants to squash that belief... because it just is not true. Our Speech-Language Pathologist specializes in pediatric feeding and swallowing. This means we are well-equipped to work with a variety of issues. We are committed to creating a space that feels non-judgmental and individualized to each family.

We evaluate and treat the following issues + more: picky eating/limited diet (in isolation or secondary to sensory differences due to autism, etc.), NG or g-tube fed, issues with bottle-feeding (sleepiness, collapsing the nipple, refusal/distress, feeds longer than 30 minutes, colic, reflux, etc.), difficulty chewing or drinking, trouble transitioning to table foods/solid foods, food avoidance behaviors (e.g., throwing, gagging, screaming, leaving the table) and so much more.

Feeding evaluations: 1.5 hours in your home

Feeding therapy: 30-45 minute sessions (in-person or virtually), need is determined by initial evaluation

Collaborative care: feeding challenges are rarely treated in isolation- Nourish Pediatrics has relationships with many area providers. We are committed to collaborating with the other members of your child's healthcare team to ensure comprehensive care and faster progress toward goals. We work with pediatric dentists, pediatricians, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, chiropractors, and more in the Cedar Rapids, IA + surrounding areas.
